Snowy Owl Rehab at the Maryland Zoo

Recently the Zoo partnered with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to aid a wild snowy owl found here in the state. A team of Zoo vets is helping nurse this injured bird to health with the hopes of releasing it back to the wild.

The number of snowy owls spotted in Maryland is unusually high this season and thanks to project SNOWstorm (http://www.projectsnowstorm.org) started by the DNR, the Zoo is working to help gain new insight into these unique Arctic birds.
