DC Police: Body Found in Park Was Male [FULL PRESSER]

Updated: Tuesday, April 1 2014, 05:49 PM EDT

DC police say the body found in Kenilworth Park on Monday as they searched for missing 8-year-old Relisha Rudd was male. Police did not provide an ID of the body at their 3 p.m. press conference but noted cause of death was likely suicide.

The search for Relisha is still underway. Police say they have used divers, underwater cameras, overhead surveillance and extensive ground searches. They have also used cadaver dogs and search dogs.

DC police chief Cathy Lanier said she anticipates the search to continue in the park for "several more days."

Authorities began searching Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens after learning Kahlil Tatum, the man last seen with Relisha, had spent time in the park on March 2 after purchasing some black trash bags.
