Footage of Fatal Crash Outside City Hall Released

Updated: Friday, April 11 2014, 02:17 PM EDT

A year after a crash outside of Baltimore's city hall killed a city worker standing on the sidewalk, police officer dash cam footage of the crash has been released.

Johnny Johnson, the man charged for hitting and killing Matt Hersl on April 9, 2013, received a 10 year sentence for vehicular manslaughter and an additional year for drug possession.  Johnson careened off of a city street going more than 100 miles per hour. Police say drugs were found in Johnson's car and in his system.

Johnson apologized to Hersl's family in court.

"Mr. Hersl's death was a horrible tragedy and a tremendous loss for his family, friends, and the Baltimore community," State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein said. "While we were prepared for trial, we hope the end of these proceedings helps to provide a measure of closure for Mr. Hersl's grieving family."
