Baltimore County, City Millions Over Snow Budgets

As Maryland braces for another round of snow, many counties and cities are already over their snow budgets.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation’s snow budget is $2.7 million, but they are now at $5.3 million.
Baltimore County's Department of Transportation has spent $9.9 million, which is over their $6 million budget. According to the county, since it is impossible to know how much snow they will get each year, the budget set is just a place-marker. Some years the total is under the budget, and some years it is over. They use money from an undesignated surplus to cover the overage.
Harford County Officials say they too are over their budget of nearly one and a half million dollars. None of the counties have finished calculating what storm Pax has cost.
