Authorities are planning to seek the death penalty against a man charged in the stabbing death of a homeless veteran outside a suburban Philadelphia train station.
The Bucks County Courier Times said prosecutors revealed their intentions during a hearing Wednesday for 21-year-old Dale Wakefield of Doylestown.
Prosecutors allege that Wakefield stabbed George Mohr more than 70 times with a pocket knife on July 3 outside the Doylestown train station.
Rescuers said the 71-year-old Army veteran's injuries were so severe they initially thought he'd been struck by a train. It was Doylestown's first murder in more than 40 years.
Wakefield was later arrested in a Baltimore hotel. He is being held without bail on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault and will stand trial in October.
