Edgewater Bicyclist Struck, Dragged, by Pickup Truck Listed in Stable Condition

On Wednesday just before rush hour police officers responded to a serious collision between a bicycle and a pickup truck in Edgewater.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the area of Central Avenue and Selby Boulevard. Officers found the 51-year-old bicyclist suffering from serious injuries. According to investigation the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Central Avenue just west of Winding Road towards Selby Boulevard. The 53-year-old driver of the pickup truck was also traveling westbound Central Avenue when the bicyclist entered the travel portion of the roadway.
Police say the bicyclist was dragged several feet until the vehicle came to a rest.
The victim was transported via helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma and is currently listed in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation.
