Heat-Related Restrictions on MARC Brunswick Line
Updated: Monday, July 14 2014, 02:03 PM EDT
Heat-related speed restrictions were issued for MARC's Brunswick Line on Monday.
The restrictions will be in effect through 7 p.m. Monday evening. The restrictions mean that trains will travel at reduced speeds resulting in possible delays of 5-15 minutes.
During heat related restrictions, prompted by consistent ambient temperatures of 85 degrees or greater or a 25 degree swing in temperatures, the maximum speed of passenger trains is reduced by 20 mph (but not under 40 mph).
Heat orders do not take effect on the Penn Line until temperatures reach 95 or 100 degrees, and these restrictions relate primarily to the overhead electric wires, CSX said.
