A tiff over loud music may be to blame for a murder in South Baltimore in the early morning hours of Monday. FOX45 spoke with the victim's mother who says her son, an MTA bus driver, was shot after asking his neighbor to turn down his music. His mother says he needed to get up early for his shift.
According to his mom, 34-year-old Craig Ray Jr. had big ambitions.
"That's all he talked about, he loved doing that, driving the MTA, working for the MTA, that was his biggest goal,” Ray's mom said. “Wanting to move up the ladder and become a mechanic and when I got that phone call I couldn't believe it. My heart just stopped. My world just came to an end."
Ray was shot on Wilgrey Court in the early hours of Monday morning.
"All he wanted was somebody to turn down their music,” Ray's mom said. “That is all, music..!!! Was my sons life worth that? No!!!! No it wasn't."
There are extra patrols now in the neighborhood, though no arrests have been made. Ray's funeral is set for Monday.
