Teddy Roosevelt Library to Rely on Digital Efforts

Updated: Saturday, July 12 2014, 08:34 PM EDT

Theodore Roosevelt's love of the country's natural beauty spurred him to create and conserve hundreds of national forests, parks and monuments during his presidency -- but his legacy is being preserved digitally.

A devoted group of scholars and Roosevelt admirers in North Dakota has been scanning his papers and artifacts for years.

Now the Theodore Roosevelt Center in Dickinson is finalizing a design for a library and museum commemorating the life of the 26th president. But unlike the presidential libraries that came before it, the library for the trust-busting president will feature a collection that is primarily digital.

Set on the edge of the North Dakota badlands, the officials hopes to commemorate Roosevelt's work and the land he loved.
