Updated: Thursday, July 10 2014, 01:41 PM EDT
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation is notifying motorists about certain traffic modifications that will go into effect July 12-13 for the Caribbean Festival and Parade.
The parade itself will be held on July 12 beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the 1100 block of E. 33rd Street, right onto the Alameda and continue across Harford Road through Clifton Park via St. Lo Drive. Due to the large amount of people expected to be in attendance, detours will be in place along with parking restrictions during the event.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to travel in this area and to keep watch for the heavy volume of pedestrian traffic attending the event. Patrons who will be celebrating this event are encouraged to use public transportation.
The following road closures will go into effect July 12th:
-Eastbound 33rd Street Ellerslie and Ednor Avenues starting at 10:30 a.m. until clear. This is only a partial closure and one lane will remain opened to traffic during the event.
Full closures include:
-Eastbound 33rd from Ellerslie Avenue to Alameda and
-Southbound Alameda from 33rd Street to Harford Road from 12:45 p.m. until clear.
All streets on the parade route will be re-opened by 5:30 p.m.
