Lawyers for Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon went in front of a judge Wednesday.
During the hearing, the mayor's original indictment was officially dismissed, and the trial for this indictment was set for November 9th.
The Mayor is accused of stealing gift cards intended for needy families, and lying about gifts from a prominent developer she was romantically involved with.
Those who represent Dixon argue that State Prosecutor Robert Rohrbaugh has abused the grand jury process by hauling witnesses before a grand jury solely to bolster his case against Dixon before her trial.
Rohrbaugh argues that Dixon's lawyers improperly filed their motion in the public record instead of under seal in a bid to taint the potential jury pool.
Last week, a grand jury handed up a new indictment against Dixon that restores some charges that had been dropped, including perjury counts.
