CRIME & JUSTICE
A Pasadena businesswoman accused of scamming homeowners and lenders out of millions learns her fate in federal court.
Fifty-seven-year-old Deborah Williams was sentenced on Wednesday and also ordered to forfeit nearly $3.5 million, the money she stole.
According to her plea agreement, Williams owned Day Title, a Severna Park company. From April 2005 to May 2008, Williams used, for her own benefit, settlement funds from real estate closings intended to pay off lien holders.
Day Title's failure to pay the lien holders was not discovered until sellers began getting delinquency notices from their mortgage companies.
