Two juveniles, both 16 years old, appeared before a judge on Monday for the attempted first-degree murder of an off-duty Baltimore police officer.

Craig Tillett and Kevon Wilson are accused of shooting Det. Aaron Harris while trying to rob the officer on the front porch of his home last week.

Harris was shot three times -- once in the abdomen and twice in the leg.

The teens are charged as adults and were ordered held without bail on Monday.

FOX45 has learned that Kevon Wilson was released after appearing in juvenile court just one week before the attempted murder of Harris.

Officers brought in Wilson on a re-take warrant, which is issued when a juvenile delinquent violates the terms of his or her release.

Both Wilson and Tillett have prior records. Wilson's criminal past includes drug possession and a 2006 robbery. Tillett was also arrested earlier this year for drug possession.

Tillett's grandmother, who was in court on Monday, says she fears for her grandson's safety because he's now known as a snitch.

Police say Tillett admitted his guilt and provided the name of Kevon Wilson shortly after his arrest.

Wilson denies any involvement, but sources close to this case say he appears to be a Krypt gang member.

Detective Harris has undergone several surgeries.

His condition was downgraded over the weekend, and remained in critical but stable condition Monday night.
