WBFF - Crime & Justice - Testimony Begins in Child Starvation Trial - Joy Lepola
Testimony is underway in the trial of three religious cult members accused of starving a boy to death.

Queen Antoinette, the cult leader, allegedly ordered her followers to deprive 1-year-old Javon Thompson of food and water because he would not say "Amen" before a meal.

Prosecutors say the two other defendants made sure those orders were followed.

Antoinette's former boyfriend, Steven Bynum, took the stand Tuesday.

Bynum says he told the boy's mother that the Bible doesn't say it's OK not to feed a child.

He noticed the boy was pale, lethargic and underweight. When he encouraged the boy's mother to feed him, she burst into tears.

Another former member of the cult also testified, saying members of the group did whatever Antoinette told them to do.

That included an order not to see any doctors while pregnant and to give birth in the house.
