Nearly 200 fugitives turned themselves into authorities Wednesday and walked away with their cases resolved.
The city's first Safe Surrender program drew hundreds of fugitives to the New Metropolitan Baptist Church in West Baltimore.
The program allows people wanted for non-violent crimes to turn themselves in and get favorable treatment.
Attorneys, judges and social workers meet with the fugitives.Most cases are resolved in a single day.
Authorities hope to cut down on 40,000 outstanding warrants.The program runs through Saturday.
