Koontz was found guilty of first-degree murder for shooting Ron Koontz at his Glen Arm home in June 2009. She was also convicted of first-degree attempted murder for firing at their daughter, Kelsey Koontz, who was not hurt.
Kelsey, now 17, testified against her mother during the trial. She cried after hearing the verdict, saying she felt "relieved."
The defense had argued that Koontz cannot be held criminally responsible for the crimes because of mental illness. The jury rejected that argument.
Prosecutors argued that Koontz carefully planned the attack.
