Republicans Stimulus Hypocrisy
Republicans rightly opposed the stimulus last year on the grounds that it wouldn't stimulate job growth -- or at least, not as much as cutting taxes and liberating the economy's true job creators, small businesses. Fair enough. But over the past year, Republicans have used the stimulus as a sort of slush fund behind which they can hide their own political cowardice. For example, it's not easy to tell seniors and veterans who want more money in the form of a COLA(cost-of-living adjustment) that, well, there was no inflation last year, so you're not going to get that increase. So, how do you say no to seniors and vets if you're a Senate Republican? You don't! All you have to do is find a way to split the baby, and that's exactly what many Senate Republicans did last night: they supported an amendment -- offered by a Republican -- that would have given seniors and vets an additional $250 this year -- because hey, they want it! -- as long as the money came from unobligated stimulus funds.
Beautiful, right? They knock out a few birds with this stone. They get to remind people that the stimulus isn't working and could be used for better things. They get to tell seniors and vets they voted to give them checks, but the Democrats preferred to use that money to grow the government and opposed Republicans. And, at the end of the day, since they lost, at least money won't be spent on these checks that, in their heart of hearts, they didn't really think these folks deserved anyway.
This sounds to me like the same shenanigans Republicans pulled when they ran the show in Washington, and I worry that it signals they haven't learned their lesson: that good governing requires making hard choices and telling some people"No." And I also worry that Republicans actually buy into the idea that government spending, as long as it's done right, is good for the economy.Maybe, like Democrats, they actually believe this stuff. Republicans defend their vote last night by saying the money was going to be spent on less worthwhile stimulus projects anyway, so they may as well have tried to redirect it. But the problem is, what are these Republicans going to do a year or two from now when there's no stimulus slush fund for them to raid and these same folks want another COLA check they don't deserve? Are Republicans going to find the courage then to vote no? I doubt it, because now they're on the record as having supported giving these COLA checks to seniors and vets when there was,in fact, no inflation to justify it. They're setting themselves up for tough decisions " not to mention a bit of hypocrisy " down the road.
Far better, I think, for Republicans to let Democrats go down with the sinking stimulus ship.Republicans need to keep their hands out of that stimulus bill, or people might end up thinking there's not much difference between them and Democrats.
Logical Health Care Reform
The United States spend twice the money as the next closest nation on Health care per capita. Many of these countries have found phenomenal success in spending less and with highly touted results in health care. The key to our success is to drastically remove the cost from our system. How do we then take advantage of the strengths that already exist in our current system? All of our diseases and procedures are categorized and coded. Our computer systems are unmatched in the world which clearly indicates that we can do billings and collections electronically in an instant without needing mountains of paper and armies of people to push them around. This of course has created enormous administrative cost that is absolutely unnecessary.
We often hear the complaint that millions of people are without health care which of course is a false accusation for they can always go to the emergency room. How do we create a system that produces an incentive to regularly visit the clinic rather than go to the emergency room which costs five times more than the clinic? We need to be mature enough to recognize that we're already absorbing the cost, so we should use economic dollars rather than premium dollars to care for them. When people visit clinics there is often more of a tendency to focus on preventive care. It's critical that our goals should be to prevent medical issues from becoming worse and delving into the primary cause of the problem. Many of us are now aware that receiving care in the emergency room only concerns itself with the immediate acute problem at hand.
Catastrophic care which allows insurance companies to falsely elevate the cost of premiums must be given a serious overhaul. These companies often claim they have all these catastrophic health care needs which they are responsible for. We now have the ability through Medicare to shift the responsibility of catastrophic health care away from the private sector and to the government. There is no need to create a new entity that already exists, which is Medicare.
Of critical importance is tort reform. A system needs has to be created which cares for the need of people who sustain medical injuries. The best way is not to reinvent the wheel but look to others that have been successful in doing so. When we speak about the cost of medical litigation we need to consider not only the astronomical dollar amount but also the disruption that losses cause in the lives of doctors and the practice of hospitals. We must look closely at the cost of defensive medicine which is out of control but very difficult to quantitatively measure.
This is a logical and bold start. Is president Obama listening?
KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid.
Obama is exactly right:Americans want the health-care system fixed. Obama is exactly right:Republicans don't have their own comprehensive plan. Obama is exactly right: Republicans are the party of no when it comes to this bill.
But though Republicans might lose today, Obama's going to lose even worse for simple reasons: Americans hate this bill more than they want the system fixed. They hate this bill more than they care whether the Republicans have an alternative comprehensive overhaul. And they hate this bill more than they do the party of no.
Hell get an A for effort from the American people " they'll admire his stones with as light uptick in polls " but don't be surprised if there's no movement whatsoever on their support of the policy.
And this really is a setup, as Pence said last week on Meet the Press. They want to be able to say they tried so they can turn right around and pass it through reconciliation. They've sold themselves " whether they're able to sell it to the American people tomorrow or not.
KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid.. the bill is much too complex and no one understand sit including our President and Congress. It would be much easier for people to comprehend an individual bill which handles single issues. Are you listening Mr. President and Congress?
A dangerous and deadly problem at Toyota
Congress has finally worked itself into a full-throated frenzy over the recent series of recalls by the worlds #1 auto producer. I use the word finally because any time Americans are dying as a result of businesses cutting corners, its our governments job to step in quickly and address the problem. Ive been a little less than satisfied with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA) responses in recent months to these recalls. Its almost as if the agency and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood wanted to look the other way as Toyota officials fixed its problems on their own; hoping the issue would quickly dissipate from the national conversation. Yet the longer drivers waited for their Corollas to be repaired, the more we learned of other problems along the manufacturers complete line of autos.
Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda will testify before a congressional oversight panel today, prepared to take full responsibility for any safety problems in his company's vehicles. His groups president said as much yesterday, and the company has been in full damage control for weeks now trying to reassure drivers their cars are safe to be on the road. But they're not safe. And no amount of elevator music and soothing announcer talk can mitigate those realities. People are dying! Which only leads me to believe there's full-scale corruption at Toyota where profits trump safety, and cutting corners means the company stays on top. That's a false claim of auto hegemony, and Toyota himself should be ashamed.
A Mere Millionaire is not Wealthy
A 60year old couple with a net worth of $1 million is hardly wealthy. They probably accumulated this wealth by hard work and savings. Their net worth is probably composed of a $500,000 house and $500,000 of pension assets. When they retire, they can expect a taxable income of $20,000 to $30,000 per year from their pension assets at todays rates and about $25,000 per year from social security. $50,000 per year is enough to support a comfortable middle class life stile, but it is hardly a luxurious retirement.
President Obama has repeatedly implied that families with incomes in excess of $250,000are wealthy. There are many families in New York, Washington, DC, San Francisco and other expensive American communities who barely live an upper-middle class life style on $250,000 per year. These couples tend to be successful professionals, business managers and small business owners. If they want to retire with an upper middle class life style on $250,000 per year without touching principal, they would need financial assets of $6 million to$8 million. In other words, a net worth of less than $10 million merely lets the retiring couple maintain a comfortable upper middle class lifestyle. This is the life style of the American Dream to which most Americans reasonable aspire. It is not the super luxurious and sumptuous life style of the rich and famous.
It is unfortunate that the Progressives reject the proven economic tools that lead to general prosperity; tax reductions, less regulation, balanced government budgets, and policies that encourage individuals to be productive and responsible. After all the mere millionaires are the most productive members of the economy. Why do the progressives want to reduce Americas productivity by taking the hard earned wealth of the mere millionaires? If this happens, the whole economy will suffer.
One Way and One Way Only to Cut the Deficit!
A week ago my written blog addressed the size of the deficit and how it continues to damage our future. In reading and hearing responses many asked what solutions can be offered instead of just criticizing the "Great One". Today's blog focus on concrete measures to reduce the deficit. The unavoidable fact is that the only way to cut the deficit is to reduce spending. History has shown that increasing taxes to solve budget problems reduces government revenues in the long term. This occurs principally because it reduces GDP growth and taxpayers react to increase taxes by shifting their resources to non taxable instruments or non taxable pursuits. Consequently the only conclusion that any common sense thinking human being can reach is reduce cost.
The quickest reduction in federal cost must come from the reduction of the federal payroll. This includes a cut of federal employees and a substantial reduction in federal salaries. In this mode Congress should set the example. In a business that consistently loses money, it's leaders take significant reduction in salaries, bonuses and perks. It would not be unreasonable to ask these congressional leaders to take a 20% salary reduction until the deficit is in balance. Give them additional incentives to balance the budget with a 50% bonus when it has been balanced.
Federal employees make approximately 40 to 50% more than the average American worker in the private sector. It would not be outrageous to ask federal employees to review their federal compensation and put it in line with the private sector. In a business that can't make a profit managers terminate or reduce salaries of the least productive employees. Perhaps another area that must be addressed are federal transfer payments. Social Security is a no brainer and can become solvent with one simple fix. Ask people to work an additional two years to reflect increased longevity. Federal pensions should be readjusted to reflect the current demographic trends to longer lives. This would require lower payout's or increased working longevity for eligibility.
End all earmarks, need I say more.
Fire the Teacher's Union
Heroes can and will emerge from the most unsuspecting places and make crucial decision that can reverberate around the world. Rhode Island superintendent,Frances Gallo, boldly confronted the neglect of Central Falls High School students by pompous teachers and the Central Falls Teachers Union. Her challenge boldly illuminates the burden unions and governments jobs have on productivity.
Courageously glaring at the shameless monster of one of the worst school districts in the nation reporting 50% of students failing their classes and less than 50% graduating,Frances Gallo was willing to challenge facilitating negligent teachers who were obviously apathetic to the success of their students. All they cared about in the end was their fat paychecks every two weeks and no concern for the dismal results of their students.
The continuing embarrassing situation became a desperate matter for Gallo in the Rhode Island public school system. The shameless teachers and administrators boasted an average salary of $72,000 - $78,000 a year in a town where the average salary was only $22,000.
Frances Gallo be came fed up and demanded that student results become a priority for these hypocritical and selfish teachers and demanded six changes that she knew would turnaround the unaccountability of that school. Some of these included: adding 25minutes to the work day, eating lunch with students one day a week, two week training in the summer and occasionally tutoring. All of which I am shocked were not a priority and demand for these teachers.
The cold hearted and self centered union's showed no compassion or commitment to improve the condition of their students. In fact they rejected and refused to enact any of Gallo's recommendations. This is where Frances Gallos conviction and commitment to the well being of her students took precedent and fired nearly 100 teachers and administrators. Wow,thank you so much for your needed example of boldness!
Why does it take so long for one person with courage and conviction to take an unprecedented and uncompromising stand against Teacher Union bosses that impede the education and progress of our school children across this nation? Nothing has eroded faster in this country than our primary public school system. This is only perpetuated by powerful and calloused teachers unions who bully administrators into accepting their way of doing business. And they just don't stop with the so called powerful teachers union.
As Americans, we need to halt the push for unionized jobs. The people of our country deserve the best products and productivity. Thankfully, Frances Gallo's actions have been brilliantly showcased at a time when our country desperately needs more like her. Please superintendents everywhere, take note and get results!
Fraudulent Climatologist
Pseudo climatologists are invading the global community lavishly armed with epithets rooted in the fear and guilt that we are responsible for the inevitable apocalyptic dying of our majestic Earth. More frightening is that these so called climatologist have infiltrated respectable organizations whose research is responsible for global climate policy.
If it weren't for the respectable climatologist, the global community would be abandoned without a penny of hope to defend themselves against the claims of these so called scientists and their fundamentalist followers.
As the debate over climate change intensifies, the truth behind the work of many of these organizations are becoming clear. Climatologist's are noticing that organizations such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)are developing extensive reports with frightening conclusions infested with the reckless treatment of evidence "fortunately this is now coming under boldly intense scrutiny.
Gravely exacerbating the findings is the realization that powerful green lobbyist are behind much of this research, and they intend on having the global community shovel billions of dollars into their pockets. These exploitative sums, in many cases, will not curb the effect of climate change by proportions relative to expenditures.Their trivial science is shamelessly holding many at ransom!
The truth is that yes, climate change is a reality. But, our climate has been changing from the beginning of time, starting with an inhabitable planet of fire to ice ages. On a smaller scale cycles of heating and cooling exists and we are living those cycles on a day to day basis. Also, increased CO2 does contribute to this warming, although in trivial amounts. The intricate variables that go into climate change are in upward of the thousands and they are constantly in flux.
No amount of fighting climate change is going to stop it. This is the reality living on our Earth. And, many are forgetting what NASA has been so courageously willing to point out: global warming does have its benefits including a much richer biosphere. The people deserve to know more about what those benefits are.
In conclusion, the global community needs to stand up against the high jacking of climatologist. No longer will we be held captivated by lies of an apocalyptic future that will never happen by money hungry green lobbyist whose will end up robbing the unsuspecting.
There are many complex interactions among these and other factors involving climate change that none of us fully understand. It's obvious clear that the proponents of global change and warming have not provided clear enough explanations that is convincing.
Forget the girls, Government gone wild
Most Americans can't fathom the grim realities of what it's like for a country to go bankrupt, or for a currency to completely crash. I am sure those who have close relatives who lived through the Great Depression may have a little bit more perspective. They have seen their frugal ways. How they pay attention to everything they spend. How they keep a watchful eye on the way the markets are turning. The ruling generation appears to be far detached from a mindset that can thrive even in the harshest of conditions.
All one really has to do is look at Buenos Aires " once one of the richest cities in which to live, on par with New York City and Paris. However, after going through a couple of decades of irresponsible state leaders, war and, probably most controversial, a forced alien economic system, the country, although it claims to have recovered, really hasn't.
Worse yet, the Argentine government adopted protectionist policies to protect its native uncompetitive industries.
This shouldn't be the future of America. We as a people need to protect the value of our currency. We need to protect our markets and keep them competitive over the long haul. We have a right to stand up when something doesn't sound economically feasible. There is an eminent threat that can, and will, destroy our country.
Americans must remember that other countries want to have the position of being a global hegemonic force. They want to have all of the world's talent and resources filtered directly into their country.
Americans should look back on the Keynesian economic policies " a mixture of socialism and capitalism " of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Don't be afraid to remember that many of his socially radical policies were later shamefully revoked and some rightfully deemed unconstitutional. Instead of bowing to an ideological economic approach, such as the Keynesian approach "which favors government spending to recover what is lost on the consumer and business side of the GDP equation " maybe the government should focus on doing what is fiscally responsible.
An Unbridgeable Philosophical Divide?
When you deconstruct and closely analyze the details in their rhetoric, one quickly realizes the major philosophical and principle divide between liberals and conservatives. Put simply, conservatives like us believe in equality of opportunity and unfettered freedom. Liberals on the other hand, want a world where the outcomes are equal " almost guaranteed - even if it requires less societal income/ wealth and lesser freedoms.
In the real world, most Americans are neither completely liberal nor conservative in their overall views. Views and opinions change, based on ones own station in life and through differing circumstances. That's why we have laws, based on fundamental principles of whats just. Because if left to the devices and whims of populists, so-called principles would change in an instant, and freedoms would suffer. That's why conservatives look back to the Founders" they approached the building of this nation with the freshest of views "chief among them was the unfailing pursuit toward more, not less, freedom.
Conservatives will never be able to cogently persuade a true liberal who is more than willing to sacrifice his freedom and income so that there is absolute perceived equality. Likewise, liberals will never persuade conservatives to sacrifice individual freedom and hard earned wealth to be redistributed by bureaucrats and politicians in Washington, DC. For this reason alone, the Left and Right will never meet. Its probably good that they don't, for conflict is at the heart of democracy. I'm just glad I and my conservative colleagues are on the side of liberty!
It's to Warm to Snow?
Do you recall a year ago when political climatologist emphatically stated there will never be a major snow storm in Washington, DC, because of global warming. . This statement along with now discredited UN climate reports was the premise for the Democrats passing Cap & Trade legislation. This well publicize legislation would impose an additional energy cost of a $1000 to $3000 per American family and would transfer much needed manufacturing jobs and wealth to emerging countries who wouldn't sign on to this dubious climate theory of global warming. It's ironic that a mere nine months since the passing of this legislation our Nation's Capitol is witnessing and suffering through the third record snowstorm of this winter season. Our recent and current snowy blizzard conditions are consistent with a decade long cooling trend.
Fortunately our founding fathers structured a legislative system which requires an inordinate amount of time to enact legislation. Recent events have more than indicated that Pelosi's rush to impose Cap & Trade cost on the American people would have levied a substantial financial burden on them without resulting in the intended benefit of reducing global warming. We owe a debt of gratitude to the slow moving process in the U.S Senate which halted Pelosi's out of control locomotive rushing to become a disastrous energy policy on We The People.
Bush was right?!?!
Did anyone hear that giant thud on Tuesday morning? That was the collective sound of the millions of jaws dropping when they heard the news of a landmark study published by the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine that sexual abstinence education works. Note the historic nature of such a finding on social policy in this country. This wasn't some controlled study of white folks in a tiny Midwest neighborhood where pregnant teens are forced to wear scarlet letters. No, researchers examined 662 high-risk African-Americans in 6th and 7th grades, when hormones are running high and parents are rarely around.
Yet in the midst of all the reverberations, not even the paper which broke the story acknowledged the contributions by (and subsequent vindication of) the nations leading proponent of abstinence funding " former President George W.Bush.
Its not as if the Washington Post wasn't aware of Bush's policies on abstinence. In April 2007, the paper ran a story questioning the effectiveness of the practice, beginning the piece with this critical refrain:
A long-awaited national study has concluded that abstinence-only sex education, a cornerstone of the Bush administration's social agenda, does not keep teenagers from having sex. Neither does it increase or decrease the likelihood that if they do have sex, they will use a condom.
Can a brother get some credit when its rightfully due him? If such a policy was the cornerstone of a presidents entire social agenda, and it was later discovered to contain some kernels of benefit and true policy impact, then why wouldn't the Post want to acknowledge that? Is the former president no longer relevant? I don't think so. Apparently, the Obama Administration doesn't think so, either, as they incessantly lay the blame for all their policy woes on Bush's doorstep.
In a blog post earlier this week by Focus on the Family, the organization highlighted four key discoveries on why this report should change the way abstinence programs are viewed and utilized. Students receiving abstinence-centered education:
- initiated sex less;
- had fewer sexual partners;
- did not reduce their use of condoms among the sexually active;
- had more pronounced risk reductions than those receiving safe-sex and comprehensive sex education.
Some longtime critics of abstinence programs did the right thing and embraced the study's findings, even if it meant eating a little crow. In that same2007 Post story, a spokeswoman for the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States dismissed Bush's policy as too narrow. Abstinence-only was an experiment and it failed, said Council spokeswoman Martha Kempner at the time. Then on Feb. 2nd, the Post quoted Monica Rodriguez of the Council calling the study's findings exciting and saying, [W]e have a new tool to add to our repertoire. Good for her, and for all those science-based academics interested in facts first, while leaving the hand-wringing rhetoric to the liberals who thought Jocelyn Elders belonged on Sesame Street.
Was any of this covered with the level of depth and attention it deserved, given its radioactive nature and the policy lines abstinence-only programs draw? Is the medias hatred of Bush so visceral that should they acknowledge his role in this they may eventually be forced to acquiesce that (null!) he had something to do with preventing another terrorist attack on U.S. soil?!??!
I guess I'm not surprised by the short shrift President Bush received when this new study was released, but we all should be as a country. For when the media starts believing it has the omniscience to pick and choose what gets written in the annals of history, history suffers.

How Does One Spell Government Bankruptcy? "O-B-A-M-A"
If any CEO in the USA presented his board with a budget that was one third unfunded he would be fired and tossed out of the board room immediately. President Obama recently revealed a Three Trillion dollar budget which had a1.6 trillion dollar deficit. The maximum deficit presented to Congress prior to this President was approximately a half trillion dollars (In Bush last year 700 billion dollars of his deficit was a loan resulting in a net deficit of 500 billion dollars). Our President has made anemic gestures to reduce spending in his budget in certain non discretionary areas. However, these are not to take place this fiscal year. If President Obama truly and sincerely wishes to reduce the deficit he must take similar action that everyday US corporations implement when confronted with huge losses. Unfortunately the principle way companies reduce their losses is by reducing it's work force to meet the short fall. The U.S government on the other hand continues to increase it's workforce in this great recession and are promoting and increasing the salaries of all government employees. This is insane when our government continues to have this catastrophic deficit. This insanity is clearly a reflection on the extraordinary power public sector Unions have on the Democratic Party. What this does without question, is transfer wealth from the productive private sector to the unproductive public sector.
Not only is the deficit driven by outrageous increase in labor cost, but by inextricably increasing entitlement cost. Unless this government under the Obama era face the grim reality, these entitlement cost will soon drive our nation to severe bankruptcy. A bankruptcy from which our children and grand children will never recover.
How does one spell economic doom and government bankruptcy for the once greatest economic engine known to human kind around the globe? "O-B-A-M-A".
Mr. President, how are you defining a small business owner?
In the aftermath of President Obama's State of the Union address, its evident, and rightfully so, that the economy continues to impact and exert enormous weight on the eyes of those looking at empty bank accounts. President Obama continues to infuse heavy doses of hope infused rhetoric aimed directly at the middle class and small business; only time will answer whether his propositions come with a wickedly pure heart.
The President's assertion of no capital gains tax on small business investments is likely to instill hope in those seeking real change in the marketplace. However, many unanswered questions and concerns remain among a doubting public. Many small business owners now question the Presidents criteria for a small business owner.
Clearly, depending on where your business is established, a small business can take on radical and a more complex meaning. The definition of a small business changes from state to state. Whats President Obama's definition? He has only gone so far as to stipulate that these businesses need to hire new employees or raise wages. One can only hope that these are the only prerequisites.
Any market capitalist should be fearful of policy that allocates funds to only a specific segment in the market. We should want these benefits to go to all small businesses, not just those that fit an Obama defined specific profile.Though, we must acknowledge that while the parameters are vague and left to the Administrations interpretation, it is still a step in the necessary direction.
The American people should also be incredulous of the Washington's usual smoke mirrors that can be deceptively painful to interpret. This policy does nothing to repair a broken monetary system that has pumped trillions of recklessly printed dollars into the Almighty American dollar reservoir. This would in turn spell more disaster and further contribute to untold inflation inflicted damage that would make Hannibal Lector look like the Easter Bunny.
So, while President Obama has convinced the world that he is going in the right direction of pro-small business policy, he, in all actuality, is doing little to correct the bigger threat at hand: inflation, and soon to be crippling stagflation.
Knowing that the damage is severe and ongoing, are their Obama policies in place to alleviate the suffering of many Americans and halt the downward spiral of this economy? The deeper sadness is that this administration has squandered trillions of wasted dollars that this economy or the people will ever see again. Can the American people ever be assured of ever recouping their investment in the foreseeable future?
Taking on the monetary policy of the nation will be far too much of a task for a President lacking in financial policy savvy and who is infected with a socialist financial ideology. Irrespective, Americans deserve politicians who will fight to honor that historical little piece of green paper that sustains their value in a much larger world.
Lessons Learned, Lessons Forgotten: You're Fired.
It is extremely difficult to understand how the President and his White House feels that the loss in Massachusetts is no reflection on his leadership, policies or agenda. Have they become so arrogant and out of touch? Will they remain stubborn, blind and deaf, only to continue to ignore the will of the people? The people personally like and respect our president, but he needs to hear their outcry, anger and disgust with the direction our America is quickly headed. The victory in Massachusetts last night was not about Republicans or Democrats, it was about America. America fired the Republicans in 2006 and 2008, and hired the Democrats in the process. The people have since turned the tables and have become so utterly disappointed with what few positive results the Democrats have produced that they are now firing them in hopes that they will finally get someone who represents their interests and not the interests of banks, Wall Street, the auto industry, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. In other words, everyday Americans would like to see their individual lives improved from the many policies Congress and the White house are now initiating.
Mayday! Mayday! Abandon healthcare, abandon cap and trade, give us real immigration reform, protect us against terrorism, create jobs in the economy and listen to our angst! The midterm election started last night, ten months in advance. Last night's midterm election results dont bode well for our President, Congress, and the current Democratic leadership.
And, the republicans are no better, as they havent shown the leadership expected to thrive and succeed at a time when our country needs them most. Irrespective, the American people have decided: Democrats are worse! And they will continue to fire them until they understand and put in place policies that serve them, and not their monarchical mentality.
The people have spoken: to Democrats, Republicans, and to anyone else who wants to lead them, both in Congress and in the white house. They need jobs, a healthcare plan that doesnt punish us and destroy our entrepreneurial way of life. Cap and trade is destructive to the economy for many states in this country. Wake up Mr. President, Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike; the American people are livid, disgusted and fatigued with a Washington that only serves their selfish interest. And, if you don't start serving the American people, then, like they say on the apprentice, "You're fired!

Screw Nonunion Workers for Health Care Reform
Nonunion workers of America unite and defeat health care reform legislation before you are screwed.
President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Read, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the leaders of the Democratic Congress have negotiated a health care compromise which screws nonunion American workers. Under the terms of the compromise, Cadillac health insurance plans for unionized and government employees will be exempt from a 40% tax on these rich plans. However, the 40% tax will be paid on identical plans provided to nonunionized private sector employees. This compromise will add about $60 billion to the costs of the pending health care reform legislation. It is an understatement to say that this compromise is grossly unfair to nonunion American workers and is a national scandal to payoff the political allies of the Democratic Party.
The union bosses who agreed to this compromise should be ashamed of their hypocrisy toward American workers. Union leaders have once again shown that they care more about their power and influence in the Democratic Party than they do about American workers. It is no wonder that the labor union movement in the United States has been declining for decades. American workers in the private sector have long recognized organized labors Faustian bargain with the Democratic Party and have been abandoning the labor movement. Unions represent 9% of the private sector workers today compared to a high of 36% in 1945.
Americans need to take a serious look at how the Democrats controlling the White House and Congress are abusing their power and ignoring the will of the people in the name of health care reform. The Cadillac insurance tax exemption is only the most recent bribe to a reluctant constituency that Congressional Democratic leaders have concocted to pass unpopular health care reform. A number of other bribes have surfaced from closed congressional negotiations over the past several weeks.
The Cornhusker Kickback negotiated by Democratic Senator Nelson of Nebraska unfairly exempted his state from future unfunded Medicare and Medicaid mandates generated by the health care reform legislation. These as yet undisclosed costs estimated to be in the billions of dollars will be paid by the taxpayers of the remaining 49 states. Senator Nelson negotiated such a sweet heard deal for his constituents that a majority of the voters of Nebraska are embarrassed at their senators unconscionable fleecing of their fellow Americans.
In the Louisiana Purchase, Democratic Senator Landrieu sold her vote for a $300 million aide package. Louisiana, like the other 48 states (excluding Nebraska), will incur a huge unfunded mandated expenses from Medicare and Medicare if the health care legislation is passed. The state will have to fund these expenses with additional taxes without additional federal revenue. ($300 million is not enough to prevent state tax increases.) Yes, President Obama may literally keep his promise not to raise Federal taxes on Americans making less than $250,000, but he is breaching the spirit of his promise by forcing the states to raise taxes to pay for his unfunded federal health care mandates. America got a much better deal in the original Louisiana Purchase. The taxpayers of Louisiana will realize that they did not get such a good deal in Landrieus Louisiana Purchase when the state has to increase taxes to pay for health care reform.
Poor Senator Dodd of Connecticut sold his vote for a mere $100 million university health facility. He was such a poor negotiator that he decided not to seek reelection rather than have his constituents unceremoniously fire him.
These unconscionable political deals using your taxpayer dollars are the tip of the iceberg. Michigan got a deal to exempt Michigan Blue Cross from the insurance company tax. Florida, Pennsylvania and New York got a deal to protect their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. Vermont got $10 Billion for health centers. If President Obama had not breached his campaign promises to put these negotiations on C-span, undoubtly more of these deals would be exposed for American voters to review and accept or reject.
Fortunately, this legislation is not the fait de complis that many of us thought on Christmas Eve. Out of left field, Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown is creating a tsunami in the health care debate. In the special election on Tuesday to fill Ted Kennedys Senate seat, Democratic candidate Attorney General Martha Coakley was expected to blow away Brown in the most reliable blue state in the nation where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by three to one. Several weeks ago, Coakley led Brown in the polls by 19 points. Today the race is a dead heat. The game changer was Browns promise to be the 41st vote in the US Senate against the pending health care reform legislation. If Brown wins the election, this health care legislation is DOA.
Do not expect President Obamas visit to the Bay State on Sunday to help Coakley gather white working class votes. The president tore his britches with this group of voters when he said the Cambridge police acted Stupidly in arresting African-American Harvard professor Louis Gates for talking back to the cops. While the Massachusetts white working class usually votes predictably for Democrats, they tend to be law and order Democrats and are not particularly tolerant on racial issues. Coakley took a huge risk in having Obama come to the Bay State.
Even if Brown looses the race, he would have sent a resonating message to Blue Dog and moderate Democrats. If they want to keep their seats, they should vote against this legislation. Americans do not want this corrupt version of health care reform. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, 55% of Americans are against this legislation and only 40% are in favor .
Nonunion private sector workers will not benefit from the Democrats health care reform legislation. They are being used by the Democratic Party and the labor unions to finance this health care legislation with the Cadillac health care tax. Their state taxes will increase because of unfunded Medicare and Medicaid mandates placed on the states. Federal taxes will eventually increase to pay for the disclosed and undisclosed deals in this legislation for special interest groups and to buy votes. Even if their federal taxes are not directly increased, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and medical providers will pass on their increased federal taxes to their customers in the form of higher prices. Workers health care will not improve and the cost of their health care will not decline as a result of this legislation.
Nonunion private sector working Americans are the key to turning the tide on this health care legislation. If they live in Massachusetts, they can vote for Brown on Tuesday or stay home if they cannot pull the lever for a Republican. If they live in the other 49 states, they need to contact their congressmen and and senators with a clear message " Kill This Health Care Legislation. The Democrats will listen to American workers now and kill the bill or loose their jobs in November.

The Vindictive Success Tax
Uncle Sams recent reckless clamoring through our weakened and volatile American economy is beginning to make the Russian economy, terrorized by mafia thugs, look like a walk along a moonlit beach.
If it wasnt enough that Uncle Sam has viciously coerced every last business and individual into an exploitative 35% partnership via the income tax"where he is always the first to get paid. He is also taking any means necessary to beat every last penny out of our top economic performers.
This can be clearly seen in the treatment of the successful institutions of the financial community who voluntarily or forcefully accepted TARP funds. The program committed $700 billion to financial institutions with troubled assets created by the 2008 financial crisis. Of the original commitment, $500 billion was lent to or invested in financial institutions and $100 billion of these loans were repaid. For its risky investment, Americas unwanted senior business partner pocketed an additional $35 billion in profit within the first nine months of the program. When the remainder of TARP funds is repaid, it is unlikely taxpayers will lose their investment. (This does not include the amount that the administration lent to the automobile industry outside of the original scope of TARP.)
But wait, Uncle Sam wants more from the nations most successful and profitable financial institutions: President Obama wants to levy a $90 billion Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee on the big banks who are the whipping boys for this financial mess. He is exonerating the government, the Fed, Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac from any responsibility of the financial meltdown so he can place the full responsibility for the meltdown on the nations financial institutions. In the process, he can extort additional taxes from them, euphemistically called Responsibility Fees to finance his fiscally irresponsible budget by forcing them to pay twice for their TARP participation. It is obviously clear that his burring rhetoric is blinding even basic accounting.
Why do Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac get a pass from the Financial Crisis Responsibility Fee even though they encouraged risky loans to be given out as a form of welfare? They made the politically correct payoff by flushing out hundreds-of-thousands of dollars a year to democratic candidates.
It shouldnt come as a surprise that the current administration is mustering another surprise attack on capitalism. Irrespective, I have faith that the American people are going to stand up against this thuggery?
