Comment: They should be allowed 2 terms like the president. If they can't do the job right in 8 years, they won't do it in 20 or 30.It's a job, not a lifetime membership. Also cut their pensions. Most of them are rich when they retire anyway. from colora, md. by charles

Comment: it is obvious that congress is only interested in their own personal agendas and could care less about the concerns for the people who put them in office. just look at how many people are opposed to the new health care legislation. they must think we are to stupid to think for ourselves so they'll decide what is best for us no matter what the polls say. from baltimore by larry

Comment: Corruption has set into the office of all elected Officials. They have ceased to behave as servants of the people and have begun to act like dictators. It is true of all famous people, and very few have avoided the headlines because of their own self interest. We must move toward 2 term elections, like the President, and we must do it in the next election. No million dollar pensions, no automati income increases, no tax exempt perks, decrease in salaries, no health insurnace at all; They need to pay their own or accept the same crap that they want to pass on to the American people. The country belongs to the American people, and we must not forget the reasons for which the founding fathers broke from tierany of England. Comment: Congress, is corrupt replace them all... lies, deception, meetings in secret behind closed door, pay-offs, cash for closures, the list goes on and on. from Baltimore, Md by John

Comment: Need to start replacing Congress from the top down. It is time that the representatives of Congress know that they work for the good of the people not for themselves. Comment: People barely have money to pay for regular everyday bills and now they will be required to buy health insurance. Unless jobs are going to give u pay increases it doesn't seem fair. from Owings Mills/Md by shannon

Comment: It is an insult to the American public that members of the House and Senate in hiding behind "closed doors" to hammer out a Healthcare Plan that will impact the lives, welfare and health of every American household and family member today, and the generations that follow. isn't Congress opening the doors to CSPAN and the scrutiny of the American public, as President Obama had promised time and time again in his campaign speeches? Where is the transparency that was pledged? Hear me loud and clear -- the public is wise as to why this is taking place: (1) to cover up the bribes and indiscretions between politicians in these closed door meeting seeking to benefit their own personal wealth, stature and agendas; (2) to obscure the words and actions of the elected officials in order to avoid any form of accountability or criticism; and (3) to push through a Plan that in the "light of day" would not have a snowball's chance in hell of making it out of chamber. They are an embarrassment and an excellent example of limiting all elected representatives to two terms. Time to bounce them out of there and start over again! from Abingdon / MD by Robert
