14-year-old indicted for 1st-degree murder

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Prosecutors say a 14-year-old girl charged as an adult with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man during a robbery attempt has been indicted on the charge.

A grand jury indicted Arteesha Holt of Baltimore on Wednesday.

The girl was charged Aug. 24 in the slaying of 44-year-old Jose Gonzalez-Coreas, who was shot in the head Aug. 13 and died a week later.

Police said Holt pulled a gun on Gonzalez-Coreas and another man sitting on a stoop and announced a robbery, then shot them both after they laughed at her because she was so young. The other victim suffered a graze wound.

Holt's brother, 18-year-old Shawn Palmer, was also indicted Wednesday for accessory after the fact. Prosecutors say Palmer helped the girl flee and took possession of the handgun.
