The Coast Guard has suspended it's search for a kayaker that reportedly went missing Tuesday afternoon.
Police received a call from a person who reported having contact with the kayaker in the vicinity of Oyster Creek earlier that day.
Later in the day, that person returned to the area and saw the same kayak with no one aboard and noticed a life jacket and paddle floating in the water nearby.
The Coast Guard, along with Maryland Natural Resources Police, Anne Arundel Fire Rescue, Maryland State Police and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., assisted in the search.
The missing kayaker was described as a white male in his 30s wearing plaid shorts and a dark shirt. The kayak he was in is a yellow Perception Jazz model.
The search is suspended pending further developments.
Anyone with information regarding the missing kayaker are asked to contact the Coast Guard at 410-576-2525.

Jury says deliberations heated in mayor's trial

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Jurors in the theft trial of Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon were dismissed for the weekend after sending a note to the judge saying deliberations were getting heated.
Jurors deliberated until about 3:45 p.m. Friday before sending the note saying "things are getting a little overheated" and asking to be dismissed. The jury received the case about midday Thursday.
Prosecutors say Dixon used gift cards intended for the needy on personal shopping sprees. The defense says the mayor's then-boyfriend anonymously gave Dixon gift cards for her own use, and she thought gift cards from another developer came from her boyfriend. She's also accused of taking cards from a holiday charity event run by the city.
