Delmarva Power to raise rates next month

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Delmarva Power customers can expect higher bills starting next month.
Delmarva filed its request with the state Public Service Commission for a 3.3 percent rate increase in September. State law allows it to put that increase into affect seven months after filing.
If the commission doesn't end up approving the full increase, Delmarva will refund the difference to customers.
Delmarva says the average bill will go up about $5.
