Federal safety experts are warning people not to drive millions of recalled Toyota cars until repairs are made, but many are questioning how soon that will be.
Toyota's most recent recall in the United States affects 2.3 million vehicles with the potential for sticking gas pedals.
The company has come up with a tiny metal rod that will be installed behind the gas pedal to fix the problem, and
many local dealerships began receiving the parts Wednesday.
Some local dealerships are taking repair appointments and keeping their service departments open late to handle the demand.
In the meantime, Toyota continues to tell drivers to shift the car into neutral and use the brakes if the accelerator sticks.
Dealerships say repairs should take about 30 minutes for each vehicle, but appointments should be made as soon as possible to avoid a backlog.

No taxes for BGE, Pepco on fed Smart-Grid grants
March 10, 2010 20:01 EST
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Department of Energy says Baltimore Gas & Electric and Pepco won't have to pay taxes on federal grants they are receiving to promote smart-grid technology.
DOE said Wednesday that the decision will allow it to move quickly to finalize the grants and ensure their full impact is felt in the communities where the investments are being made.
BGE received the maximum $200 million allowed under the stimulus program aimed at modernizing the nation's power grid. Pepco received $168 million for efforts in the Washington area and at its Atlantic City Electric utility in New Jersey.
