LADY GAGA RESPONDS TO LAWSUIT

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lady Gaga is responding to a lawsuit filed by a music producer she used to date. Her lawyer says the agreement between Lady Gaga and Rob Fusari was "unlawful" because it treated Fusari as an employment agent and he didn't have a license. Fusari had sued Lady Gaga last week for $30.5 million, claiming he came up with her stage name, co-wrote some of her songs and helped her get a record deal. Fusari's lawyer, Robert S. Meloni, has responded to the filing by saying Fusari "was no more of an 'agent' for her than she is a Roman Catholic nun."

MUSICIANS PAY TRIBUTE TO ALEX CHILTON AT SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST

AUSTIN, Tex. (AP) -- Curt Kirkwood of The Meat Puppets, Evan Dando of The Lemonheads and Mike Mills of R.E.M. were among the musicians who helped fill Big Star's slot at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Big Star was supposed to perform Saturday but frontman Alex Chilton died last week. Rolling Stone reports the rest of the current Big Star lineup -- Jon Auer, Ken Stringfellow and Jody Stephens -- performed with guest musicians, Original Big Star member Andy Hummel flew in from Lithuania. Susan Cowsill of The Cowsills, John Doe of X and several other musicians took part as well.

BOYS LIKE GIRLS TEST COOKIES ON COBRA STARSHIP FANS

CHICAGO (AP) -- Fans of Boys Like Girls like to bring them treats, and the band has to be good about it. Bassist Bryan Donahue says fans bring them candy and cookies, which is the worst thing for the band because they eat terribly on tour anyway. Donahue says they revert to what their parents told them: no treats until after dinner. He says they feel like they're 8 years old again. Any worries that the cookies might not taste good? Donahue says he gave one to a fan of Cobra Starship and that person didn't keel over, so the cookies are probably fine.

MILEY CYRUS LIKES A GENTLEMAN

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) -- Miley Cyrus was willing to give the costarring role to Liam Hemsworth before he ever read for the audition. It's because he showed he was a gentleman by opening the door for her. The director suggested he read for the part anyway. Cyrus and Hemsworth star in the upcoming movie "Last Song" and date in real life. Hemsworth is Australian and he says he had seen "Hannah Montana" a few times, but he didn't know how popular Cyrus was. He says that's good because he didn't get nervous about it.

BODEANS WILL SING AT WHITE SOX HOME OPENER

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) -- The BoDeans will help the Chicago White Sox kick off their season. They will perform a mini-concert before the White Sox home opener against Cleveland on April 5. Singer Kurt Neumann will sing the national anthem before the game, which will be shown on ESPN2. The BoDeans will release a new album called "Mr. Sad Clown" on April 6.
