What is the WBFF FOX 45's station history?
WBFF (We're Baltimore's Finest Features) was Baltimore's first UHF TV station. It debuted on April 11, 1971. It was known as the "The Tele-Movie" Station with The Prime Time Movie, the 1 o'clock Movie with Bill LeFevre, and "Ghost Host Theatre". It was also known as Baltimore's children's TV station. Captain Chesapeake commanded three generations of Baltimore kids with his sidekicks Mondy the Sea Monster and Bruce the Bird! Classic re-runs like "I Love Lucy", "Hogan's Heroes" , "I Dream of Jeannie", and "Gomer Pyle" rounded out the independent station's programming. Then, in 1987, WBFF became an affiliate: FOX 45. It was young, hip and irreverent bring Baltimore shows like "21 Jump Street", "Married with Children", "The Tracy Ullman Show". "The Simpsons" is now television's longest running animated prime time series! FOX 45 News at Ten debuted, June 1, 1992 and is Baltimore's most honored-newscast. The station added an all-local, three-hour morning newscast to their weekday line up in March 2000.

What is the WNUV CW Baltimore's station history?
WNUV (TV) debuted on July 1, 1982. The station was originated and owned by NUVision Incoporated, hence the call letters WNUV. A man by the name of Sam Kravitz was the original owner along with a silent partner. WNUV (TV) was known as a Subscription (Super TV) station. It was created for people in the city and county who did not have cable. Although there was some daytime programming such as the Jim Bakker Show and Financial News Network, WNUV's soul purpose was to air subscription television aka Super TV. Eventually in 1989, WNUV (TV) became an independent programmer under new ownership by ABRY Communications, owned by Andrew Banks and Royce Yudkoff. Under ABRY's management, WNUV (TV) had risen from its position in 1989 as one of the poorest performers among broadcast TV stations in the United States to become one of the highest-rated independent TV stations in the nation competing in its local market. WNUV (TV) was the first station to acquire exclusive local broadcast rights to air Baltimore Orioles games. Some of the more popular shows airing on WNUV were The Cosby Show, Amen, A Different World, and an overnight movie feature called Nightwatch. Viewers were also allowed to vote, by calling in, for which prime time movie they wanted to see. Voting was closed down a few minutes prior to airtime, and the winning movie was shown. Every Sunday afternoon, the station promoted a film festival featuring a single actor or actress, such as Bruce Lee, Sidney Poitier, Charles Bronson, or Meryl Streep; a series of movies such as Star Trek sequels or the "James Bond" series; or general interest topics such as back-to-school (featuring Revenge of the Nerds and Ferris Bueller's Day Off) or the Vietnam War (Hamburger Hill and Platoon Leader). The most prominent tie-in for WNUV was the Maryland State Lottery. Drawings occurred live on-air from the station's studios every weekday night during five minutes before Prime Time. In 1994, Sinclair Broadcast Group began operating WNUV (TV) under a local marketing agreement. WNUV became a WB affliate in January 1998. Then when The WB and UPN merged, WNUV (TV) became a CW affiliate. The CW first began broadcasting on WNUV on September 18, 2006.

What are WBFF and WNUV's digital signal assignments and when will they be on the air?
WBFF-DT / WNUV-DT are currently on the air Channels 46 (FOX 45.1 & 45.2) and 40 (CW 54.1 & 54.2). Both are operating at maximum power. Both offer network HDTV content (sub-channel .1) and up-conversions of our current NTSC signals (sub-channel .2). With the proper antenna and digital receiver both digital channels should be receivable in the Baltimore area. WBFF's 45.2 designation airs a combination of simulcasted shows as well as original programming and that station is referred to as "GoodTV". GoodTV began airing original programming on May 1, 2006.

Programming

Why is FOX 45 showing (or not showing) Redskins Games?
We show as many Redskins games as are available to us. FOX follows the AWAY NFC teams each week. CBS follows the AWAY AFC teams each week. Here's how you can tell if FOX 45 will be showing the Redskins:
1) If the Redskins are away or playing an NFC team at home in the afternoon, then the game would be on FOX.
2) If the Redskins are playing at home, against a visiting AFC team in the afternoon, then the game would be on CBS.
3) If the Ravens - the market's home team - are playing at home in the afternoon against an AFC team, then they will be airing on CBS AND FOX 45 will not be able to show ANY game at the same time - even if FOX has a national double-header weekend scheduled.
4) If the Ravens - the market's home team - are playing at home in the afternoon against an NFC team, then the Ravens will be airing on FOX 45 at that time, even if a Redskins game is scheduled at the same time.

These are some of the rules that are given to the broadcast networks from the NFL. Some Redskins games we don't carry due to the FOX NFL contract. The last couple of years we have carried 9-10 Redskins games, most of the other games are picked up either on Sunday night or Monday night football. Our viewes usually miss 2-3 Redskins games a year, which is out of our control. The other game choices that we air are up to the FOX network.

I missed my favorite show, can I request a copy of it?
Unfortunately, we cannot give out or sell copies of our shows. They are copyrighted and we are only allowed to air the shows, not distribute them. Some of the shows we air are available online either for free or for a fee. Go to www.fox.com or www.cwtv.com to find out what shows are available.

My favorite show was pre-empted, will it be re-aired? When will it re-air?
There are actually two answers to each of these questions. If the show is a network show (one that is aired on all FOX or all CW stations, usually during prime time), then it will definately be aired at a different time that week, most likely on the next weekend day available, but not necessarily in the same time period. If it is a show that is syndicated, we may not be rescheduling that particular show. You can check to see if there are any programming changes in the near future that may inturrupt your favorite shows in the Programming Section of the website.
