Balfour: "Tune in" When Rays play O's

Updated: Friday, January 24 2014, 07:36 PM EST

More than a month after the Orioles passed on relief pitcher Grant Balfour, the Tampa Bay Rays signed him to a two-year, $12 million deal.

The O’s offered Balfour a two-year, $15 million contract before nixing the deal over health concerns. Balfour said at his press conference that he is “100 percent healthy.”

Balfour passed the Rays physical without any problems, telling reporters, “I did take a physical, and I passed with flying colors, apparently.” Balfour has always maintained there was nothing wrong with him despite the Orioles pulling out of the deal.

If you think Balfour is looking forward to facing the Birds, when asked whether he would be more fired up to face the Orioles, he said, “I guess you’ll have to tune in.”

The 19 games between the Orioles and Rays just got more interesting.
