Ravens Sign Free Agent WR Steve Smith

Updated: Friday, March 14 2014, 09:03 PM EDT

The Ravens made their biggest move of this free agency period with their first signing outside the franchise.  Baltimore signed wide receiver Steve Smith to a three-year deal.

Smith was cut by the Carolina Panthers and said he wanted to be "wined and dined" during the free agency process.  Baltimore was his first stop, and he's not leaving.

The Ravens desperately missed an Anquan Boldin, go-to-type receiver in the 2013 season, and Ozzie Newsome said they would find that guy before the Ravens first game in 2014.  Steve Smith will face his former team in Baltimore when the Panthers visit M&T Bank Stadium.

In his 13 seasons, Smith has seven seasons over one-thousand yards receiving.  Last season he finished with 745 yards and four touchdowns.
